InnoCenter KSU DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS Comrat State University held a STUDENT BUSINESS IDEAS competition

On December 5, 2013 in Comrat State University, a competition of student business ideas was held. The competition was prepared and conducted by consultants from the InnoCenter at KDU and staff from the Department of Economics at Comrat State University. 

The purpose of the contest was to identify innovative business idea projects from the participating students/future entrepreneurs who’s future businesses plans will be within the economic sector and spheres of activities in ATU Gagauzia.

The jury for the competition included: representatives of the Executive Committee of UTA Gagauzia and entrepreneurs from the region of UTA Gagauzia.

To participate in the Student Business Ideas competition, students were invited from all faculties in Comrat State University. Applicants submitted an application to participate in the competition in the form of their business plans and sound projects ideas.

According to the results of examination of applications in the last qualifying round, selected participants were invited to the finals of the competition – a public presentation of their proposals. The winners were determined by the jury of the competition based on their public presentations.

Distributed as follows: 1st place Kroytor Andrew (Economics student, business idea: “Growing hydroponic tomatos”), 2nd place Alexei Seis (Economics student, business idea: “Greenhouse – mushrooms” Oyster), 3rd place was shared between two students from the Faculty of Economics, Delhi Victoria – business idea: “Internet Portal of Gagauzia” and Doykova Maria- business idea: “Production of Bakery Products”

A welcoming speech to the participants was given by Rector of Comrat State University Dr., Associate Professor  Zinovia Arikova: “Conducting the competition of Business Student Ideas initiative will become a good tradition of our university. It is important that the current students of the University can actually submit their creative business ideas and entrepreneurs can assess their viability.”

In her speech, Director of the InnoCenter KDU, Doctor and Associate Professor, Alla Levitskaya, also noted the importance of and need for such competitions for the development of the business environment. Noted that, in consequence, the students will be able to become residents of the InnoCenter KDU, where they will receive full expert advice and support in the implementation of their business ideas and plans.

Businessmen from the ATU Gagauzia region noted that the student contestants all presented well thought-out and planned business ideas and that all of the ideas promoted creativity and prospective economic soundness. The contest was held in an active creative environment. Contestants confidently answered all of the additional questions asked by the “venerable” representative from the business sector in the region. The winners were awarded cash prizes. The prize fund was formed from sponsorships donated by regional businesses and by the Executive Committee of Gagauzia.
